Report cards were sent out at the end of January. This is the first time students have been graded in Spanish this school year. They will receive grades and comments again at the end of term 4.
**The following units may vary in order from school-to-school**
In First Grade, we began the New Year by reviewing numbers (1-20). We also introduced the calendar, focusing on the days of the week. We will do a short unit on shapes, along with activities around heart shapes and Valentine’s Day. After that we will focus on weather vocabulary.
In Second grade, students have been studying a unit on parts of the body, and will complete a self-portrait including written descriptions of themselves. Next, we will introduce the Spanish alphabet and counting by 10 to 100.
In Third grade, students are practicing time telling in Spanish. They will then begin a unit on the House and furniture. At the end of the unit, they will be working on “La casa de mis sueños” (My Dream House) project – where they will imagine their dream house and describe it in the target language.
In Fourth grade, students have been busy writing journal entries, reviewing time telling, and learning some verbs in Spanish. They will be working on their end-of-unit project “Mi Día” (My Day), which encompasses a description of their day - using full sentences in Spanish. After that we begin a unit on Mexico, Central America and the Spanish-Speaking Caribbean Islands.
¡FELIZ DIA DE SAN VALENTIN!
(Happy Valentine’s Day)
