We can’t believe that we are starting the second month of the school year already! We would like to provide you with a little update as to what has been happening in each grade level.
In First Grade, students have been practicing their new Spanish names, which they will keep until the end of fourth grade. They have also been learning how to greet each other and how to express how they feel. Students will also continue to learn and practice the colors and learn to count from 1-10.
In Second Grade, we have spent most of the month reviewing greetings, feelings, numbers, and the calendar. We will be starting the month of October by reading a book on Christopher Columbus and making a connection in the Spanish classroom. We will then focus on colors, which will entail a color book project.
In Third Grade, we have devoted a lot of time to reviewing numbers, days of the week, and months of the year. The month of October will be spent mainly on learning the classroom objects. We are also going to start practicing the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish: one of the students’ favorites!
In Fourth Grade, we have been reviewing basic greetings, introductions, age, and the calendar. In October, we will focus on classroom objects and classroom passwords: By the end of the year, students should be able to use passwords such as: ¿Puedo ir al baño, por favor? (Can I please go to the bathroom?) fluently.
